Herbal Endeavors

Rob Cockerham of Cockeyed.com, wrote this hilarious article on Ultra Herbal’s new and future products. This guy has a really cool sense of humor. Read this:

“In fact, it doesn’t take a best-selling sci-fi novelist to predict a day when Ultra Herbal will market a pill that transforms you into Terminator, like the one in Terminator 3, where your arms can turn into machine guns and your feet can turn into rocket engines.”

If that isn’t genius, I don’t know what is! Well, maybe Biz Stone is.

Artistic Traits

Fruited Plaids

Once, I heard that artists don’t like what their first pieces look like. They do, however, like what other people begin with. I guess it’s like a “grass is greener on the other side” thing. I didn’t notice how great my new photos were until I opened up Picasa2 and thought to myself, “Whoa, these are pretty nice!” I forgot that I took them!

I think I might try to get one of my photos published in Gateway Voices, an annually published collection of art and literature from the various schools in the “Gateway” network. My friend, Mario, got his painting in last year’s issue. It was a monochromatic abstract piece called, “Bird Remainders in Yellow.” No, it wasn’t a crushed bird, it was a really neat painting of bird poop. I might try getting “Fruited Plaids” or one of my better lomos published.

Update: I found a .pdf of the issue of Gateway Voices that Mario’s painting (page 18) was in. Also included are the works of Rushni (page 9), Angellica (page 6), and Kyanna (page 40), some other people I know. What’s funny, is that they spelled Rushni’s name wrong, not once, but twice! In the table of contents, they spell it “Rasnmi,” and in her painting’s caption, they spelled it “Rusnmi.”

Got My Photos!

I finally got my photos from Rite Aid! They look awesome. Now, you’re probably asking yourself why I didn’t add a photo to this post. Well, maybe not. If you are, you have a very good question. I reached my monthly bandwidth limit in Flickr! I promise, I’ll upload them ASAP.

I’m kind of mad, though it’s not because I couldn’t upload the photos. It’s because I, for some reason, gave in a roll of film that was pretty messed up. No, not “abstract” messed up, really messed up. Most of the photos were blank and the ones that did come out, were just splashes of color. Luckily, whoever was developing my photos, decided not to develop that roll.

What makes me even madder, is that some of the photos I took with my ActionSampler, came out with my finger blocking a bit of one frame. I guess I have to figure out which lense was blocked and I’ll be more careful next time.

Who Let the Blogs Out?

I recently finished reading Biz Stone’s Who Let the Blogs Out? : A Hyperconnected Peek at the World of Weblogs. Let me just tell you, it rocks Natick. The book isn’t just about blogging. It also talks about the history of blogging. There are a lot of tips on blogging, too. The book is definitely worth the 14 bucks. (Well, it’s really $13.95, but that’s not the point I’m trying to make here.)

I really liked how it was written, with snippets of Stone’s life included in various parts of the book. Stone talks about how he helped start Xanga and how many of the other major blogging tools available today. I did notice that the book has some parts that are directed towards people who use Blogger. It wasn’t a problem, though, since I use Blogger myself.

I liked how the book includes many ideas on how to blog and what you might want to blog about. It made me think to myself that it doesn’t really matter getting a thousand hits, if you don’t have dedicated readers. I’m pretty sure I have a few at the moment.

There is something else I liked that most people probably don’t write about in their reviews. I liked how the book was made. I really like the cover’s design with the colorful spine and matte finish. I liked how the book fit into my hands and it was soft enough for me to hold it without creasing the spine. Of course, I never took it to school, which says a lot.

Who Let the Blogs Out? is really one of the best books I have in my collection. It’s sitting next to my copy of No Plot? No Problem! So, if you haven’t bought the book already, what are you waiting for? Go ahead, buy it! It’s totally worth it.

Undoodle

You know you’re a geek when you try to undo a mistake you made while doodling in class.
