PayPal’s A Piece of Cake?

I’ve been planning out the stuff for my mom’s site. I haven’t bought a domain name for it yet, but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get it hosted at DreamHost. (That reminds me, the “tripled” sale is gonna end this month!) I was looking for those PHP eCommerce things. I didn’t know that PayPal had it’s own tools for merchants. I hope that makes my job a lot easier. All I have to do now, is to set up the site’s layout and all that. Then, I’ll be ready to put it up online. I even have a little logo that I whipped up in Photoshop.

Kottke Quits

No, Jason Kottke’s not going to stop blogging like he was contemplating a while back. He’s doing the opposite, he’s quitting his job as a freelance designer to become a full-time blogger. He also needs some money, having quit his job.

I’m asking the regular readers of kottke.org (that’s you!) to become micropatrons of kottke.org by contributing a moderate sum of money to help enable me to edit/write/design/code the site for one year on a full-time basis. If you find kottke.org valuable in any way, please consider giving whatever you feel is appropriate.

He’s also giving away some pretty flippin’ stuff I read kottke.org a lot, so I might donate. Kottke commented on his new webcam, too.

Oh, and I should be on the webcam most of the day today. I guess you should be able to tell roughly how the above is going by how much I’m smiling. If instead you see me rocking catatonically in my chair clutching an empty pill container, call 911.

You see, that’s the kind of humor I need! Why can’t I be funny like him? (via evhead.)

Mysterious Can

I’m watching TV with my nephew, Rasidul. We saw a commercial for Chef Boyardee that shows a girl who gets followed home by a can of Chef Boyardee. I find it extremely mysterious. Rasidul just asked, “How did that can get out without setting off the metal detectors?” Mysterious.

The Gates Were Flippin’

Today (technically (Look at the timestamp)) Yesterday, I went to see The Gates and I had a pretty good time. I went with my parents, Sudman, and his sister. We looked for a place to park the car for almost two hours! We had to leave my dad in the car while we went to the Park with my mom. My mom said she liked The Gates a lot better in person and that people shouldn’t say stuff about it before actually seeing it. I agree with her, since most people I talked with said bad stuff about The Gates. There were a lot of people at The Gates, which explains why we didn’t get to park our car.

I bought a two-pack of one-time-use cameras, but I forgot to bring the second one with me. Too bad, since I wanted to take a picture on the street that goes straight through Central Park. I will probably have the photos by next week, if not this week. Jason Kottke took some great photos so check them out in the meantime.

I finished watching Napoleon Dynamite with Sudman and it was great flippin’. I’m writing this so late, since his internet connection was going crazy and we were watching Napoleon Dynamite late at night. I mean I just came back.

I wish I could write short posts of high concentration like Biz Stone.

The Gates

I’m going to Central Park to see The Gates. My dad’s bringing his camcorder and I’m gonna buy a disposable camera. I wish I could connect the camcorder to my PC. There seems to be some sort of FireWire port on it, though. Expect a follow-up soon.
