Scrolling Trackpad

I almost forgot that my PowerBook came with a scrolling trackpad. It’s nice. I’m pretty sure someonw will figure out a way to use the same technology to make a program that lets you”scratch” records.

Loving It

I am really enjoying my switcharoo. It feels good to finally be working on a Mac. It was pretty nice at the Apple Store today. There was this really cool sales associate, named Luis. He guided us through the whole process of buying my PowerBook (12″, for those of you dying to know) and was really excited about me buying a Mac.

I took 2 photos with him. Actually, my dad took one and this other guy at the Apple Store took the other one. I’m getting the other by email. I’m guessing it might be put up on the Apple website’s Tiger World Premiere Gallery. I’m constantly checking there.

I also got 10% off my purchase. It was part of their scratch-off lottery thing. My parents and my cousin won the same thing, but their coupons went to waste, since I was the only one who bought something and you could only use one coupon per purchase.

It took a while to install Tiger, and I got scared. You see, my PowerBook was making wierd noises (I had never heard these type of noises before). I thought there was too much power and it was getting fried. Going closer to the PowerBook, I realized that it was just the hard drive doing a little extra work.

Right now, it’s really late. I’ve been checking out stuff on this for a while. I’ve downloaded Delicious Library, iPodder, Camino, Adium X, and Firefox. Expect reivews later on. Oh, also, Spotlight rocks Natick. Dashboard is pretty awesome, too.

Happiness

Guess what? I’m using my new PowerBook! I got it a while ago. I went to the Apple Store and got it. I also got a Tiger installer for free, but it’s a drop in, so I have to install it. Well, I’ll upload photos from today later on (I know it’s after midnight, but oh well).

Tiger is Out

So, Tiger is out today. I’m really excited, but I’m mad at myself as well. I need to finish like two projects before my dad comes home, or I might lose my chance to go to the Apple Store.

I’ve noticed some redesigned sites today. The Quicktime site is different. The .Mac site is also different. Also, Amazon.com got redesigned. Now, there are only two tabs the top of the page. One for the homepage and one for the categories. If you hover over the categories tab, you’ll see a menu pop up, showing you the categories.

A New Fountains of Wayne Album!

There’s a new Fountains of Wane album coming out soon. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get it. It’s coming out on June 28th:

“On June 28th, Virgin Records will release Out-Of-State Plates, a specially priced 2-CD collection of FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE non-album tracks and previously unreleased recordings spanning the group’s entire career.”

I really like FoW’s music. They were the ones who made me like indie rock (my musical tastes evolve a lot). I have their 3rd album, and I borrowed their first two albums from the library, and I have Sink to the Bottom stuck in my head.

Revised Thoughts

After talking to Reyhan, I decided that I should probably get a 12″ PowerBook. The reason being, if I were to customize an iBook to my liking, it would cost $75 less than an uncustomized PowerBook (with iWork, which I could’ve gotten pre-installed on the iBook.) I’m still trying to make up my mind. This always happens to me, whenever I decide to spend a fairly large amount of money. Especially around this time of year (my birthday.)

I have some great news, too. You see, my dad bought a camcorder when I was in like 3rd grade. It said “digital” all over it, and my dad said that I could connect it to my computer. Well, I never found out how, since the manual gave some crappy instructions on connecting it. Also, since it’s from Sony, it referred to FireWire as “i.Link.” Knwoing that it connected via FireWire would’ve helped a lot. Well, a few months back, I was checking the camera out, and I found a little “flap” and underneath it was a 4-pin FireWire port! This made me remember that it was probably a DV cam (yes, I really was/am that stupid) and I could connect it to a computer!

Recently, I found out that you could connect a DV camcorder to a Mac and edit the video through iMovie. This brings, like, so many ideas into my head. I teested the camera a bit to see how it was. Now, I can make way better vlog posts with the camcorder than I can with my Canon PowerShot. Also, I can probably make short movies. Since it’s a DV cam, I can even use it in iChat, and Delicious Library.

Quick Thoughts

Today, I decided that I’m getting a customized 14″ iBook, not a PowerBook. After going through the options with my cousin, I saw that I could save a lot by buying an iBook.

Also, I got some books on Mac OS X. The librarian looked like he knew about Macs, but he didn’t know too much. All (I think) he knew was that there were “different types of Macs” and that there were different versions of Mac OS X. The thing that got me kinda mad was when he gave me a printout for a book on Mac OS 9. It wasn’t a problem since the OS X books were with the OS 9 books.

Another thing, my cousin is trying to get WordPress installed on his server, but his internet connection is too slow (Bangladesh) and he can’t find time to configure WP. He’s also considering getting a Mac delivered to his Austrailian address and bringing it back to Bangladesh with him.

Finger Food

This morning, I saw a report on the news that, to CNN, was important enough for there to be a special segment. It was about a woman who tried to file a lawsuit saying she found a finger in her food at Wendy’s.

“Wendy’s restaurants are hoping business will bounce back now that a woman who claimed she found a finger in her bowl of chili has been arrested and investigators say the whole case was likely a hoax.”

This reminds me a lot of someone who tried to frame my dad of a hit-and-run accident. My dad hadn’t even gone out of the house that day, let alone go to the mall, like the police report said. We found out later on that there’s a group that targets taxi-drivers and limousine-drivers to file lawsuits againt.

This brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “finger food.”

I’m Hired

My cousin asked me to help out with a website he’s setting up with someone in Bangladesh. He was going to pay me, but I said I’d be happy to do it for free. I get to help, not only with the content, but also with the design. I think this is a great oppurtunity to practice my skills in web design. My cousin wants the site to be simple, but the guy who he’s working on it with made a mountain out of an anthill. The site is for an outsourcing service, called SF & Associates.

Thanks

Thanks to Lou, I got a free Flickr Pro Account! He was holding a contest to see who could answer some questions about his blog. This is so awesome, since I will have more photos when I get my PowerBook. Also, Lou called me something that only some people in my class call me, Shahizzle.
