I really hope I can go see Colin Meloy of the Decemberists when he comes to New York City on his solo tour. Thanks to Lou, I’ve fallen in love with the music of the Decemberists. If I do go, I’ll be taking my nephew, Rasidul, since I know my parents won’t let me go alone. I’m feeling really lucky, so lets hope I can go. I’d better get a Decemberists CD of my own soon, I might get an autograph op.
If I do get to go, which I’m hoping I am, it will be my first concert ever. Well, that excludes those weird Bengali things I’ve attended. I’m just trying to think of a way to convince both my parents and Rasidul’s parents. (No hard feeling, Sudman. I know your parents will never approve.)
I know that convincing my parents will be fairly easy. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting very good grades this marking period. Grades come out Friday! The hard part will be convincing Rasidul’s parents.
EDIT: I found out that the big Regents test I have scheduled for January is on the day of the concert. Guess what this means? I get to come home from school early. I also get no homework. That means I can relax that day.

If it’s a weekend or a reasonable time during the week things should be ok. I imagine the big issue will be where it is held.
I never went to a ‘real’ concert until I was 21.
Just because I lived out in the boonies where no right thinking good bands ever went.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to go – you certainly deserve to!
I am seeing him on the 27th – if his show is anything like the Decmeberists one (or the bootlegs of the Colin Meloy solo shows), both of us are in for a real treat!
