I can’t wait to get out of school. I have just two more days left. This Wednesday, I am going to take a Regents exam for Chem. Then, I’m going to school for one period the next Wednesday to pick up my report card. I don’t think I mentioned this before, but I’m gonna be working at YoYoNation during the summer. I can’t wait to start. I’ll be getting paid and its my first job so that’ll be fun.
There are a few things I’d like to save up for with the money I’ll be getting. Now, I’m gonna try and hold myself back from splurging with the all money since I know I’ll need it later. Hopefully, I’ll find some way to “grow” my money.
Here’s my summer wishlist (listed in the order I’m most probably getting each):
- Brain Age: I really want this game since, as fun as it is, New Super Mario Bros. gets boring when it’s the only game you have.
- Canon EOS 350D: Lou and Aaron seem to be happy with it. I’d look at the Nikon D50, but I’m more of a Canon person. I actually wish I had enough money right now since there’s this rebate offer going on.
- Banjo: I’d really like to get a banjo sometime in the future. Maybe not now, but someday.
The XT is great. I’ll be really putting it to the test over the next couple of weeks, as it is coming with me to Europe and then on a hiking trip in the Alps. I actually wouldn’t recommend anything else. At some point I’d suggest picking up a 50mm lens (the f/1.8 is only like $90 dollars or something like that), with which you can’t go wrong.
go, summer!
Thanks, all the lenses I looked at were like hundreds of dollars. I’m guessing that’s the lens you used for those shots with the nice DOF? At $73, I’m pretty sure I’ll get it.
Yep, that’s the one. With that and the the lens the camera comes with, you can’t really go wrong.
I used to be into “yo-yo-ing” but it sadley ended that’s another story da da daaaaa
I changed my url to jimmyeatworld15.blogspot.com
Interesting.
yea i’ll vouch for the rebel xt any day. i’ve been shooting on it since last august and it’s consistently great. I used to shoot b&w film but it’s really hard to justify the cost and hassle, not to say i didn’t have a great time (if you know what i mean) in dark rooms but it’s very time-intensive and can somtimes hamper the creative process (i really hate to admit it).
also remember the image sensor on the xt is the exact same as the one in the 20D, and it’s fantastic.
canon’s 50mm f/1.8 (the light(est)-weight ridiculously cheap all-plastic wonder) is a fantastic prime glass, my brother’s got the f/1.4 and it looks fancier and it’s got usm autofocus (faster, more reliable (last longer)) and a little better aperature (on the f/1.8 you’ll usually regret using it at 1.8 compared with the fantastic performance you’ll get a 2.0 and smaller). But the 50mm f/1.8 is the best deal on glass since the beginning of time. I got mine on amazon.com for $69, the f/1.4 (with metal mount) sells for well over $300.
I’m considering investing in a more versatile lens for this summer (in sri lanka and london) but I think I’ll just end up borrowing out of my brother’s collection since he’ll be with us for some of it.
but yea definitely go for it
I’ll vouch for the rebel xt and the 50mm f/1.8 any day, it’s a fantastic(ally cheap) combination.
I think the kit lens is pretty crappy (18-55), in terms of optical quality / sharpness /etc, so you might as well do without and either way i think with the f/1.8 you’ll still break even.
