Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

As I’m in Bangladesh right now, I couldn’t go to the Midnight Party for the last Harry Potter book. I did, however, get the book on the 21st. My cousin’s staying over at my house for a few days and he was there to recieve the book I’d preordered on Amazon.

Of course, my aunt bought me a fake copy of the book here. They sell fake copies for about $4 on the street here. I got in the afternoon this past Sunday and finished it last night. I couldn’t put the book down. Luckily, it was a paperback else I wouldn’t be able to carry it around like I did.

Like all the other books, I loved this book. I won’t write about the story because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. If you really want to know, just read the book or go on Wikipedia.

Vacationing In Bangladesh

I’ve been in Bangladesh for almost two weeks now. I can’t always come online because the internet’s wonky here. It’s not much hotter than it is in New York but the problem is the humidity. I have a whole lot of relatives and it’s really hard to keep track of them. I even have grandnephews and grandnieces because my really old cousins (I’m the youngest) have kids that are married.

Most of my time is spent indoors reading my AP Biology textbook or listening to my iPod. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Björk, The Strokes, The Postal Service, The Decemberists, and, as always, The Shins (Samantha was right, New Slang really does change your life.). I want to watch one of my DVDs but I left our portable DVD at home and not everyone here has a DVD player. The computer I’m on has some weird virus that shuts it down if you don’t play a DVD the right way.

Here’s a list of the DVDs I brought:

  • Garden State: Might be my all-time favorite movie or up there.
  • The Science of Sleep: Very funny, I loved it.
  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: I really liked this one, too.
  • Little Miss Sunshine: Hilarious movie.
  • Brick: An interesting detective-type movie.
  • Donnie Darko: A really weird movie that I liked.
  • The Royal Tenenbaums: Funny and interesting.
  • Stella: Season One: Hilarious show, wish it wasn’t cancelled.
  • Arrested Development: Season One: I got the box set for cheap at Costco. Another hilarious show I wish wasn’t cancelled.

I might be going to India for a few days if I can convince my mom to let me go. She thinks it’s too hot there to let me go. My dad’s going. I left my LC-A at home because it needs some repairing but I’m hoping to get back the Minolta SLR my dad left in Bangladesh soon. I’ll be sure to take photos in India if I go.

Time is Running Out

It’s almost time for me to go to Bangladesh. I’ll be there from this Tuesday to September 2nd. I’m hoping I can have a good time. It certainly feels strange to be leaving everything behind especially since this was the summer I was planning on doing lots of things. I’m glad to be going, though. As much as I’d like to stay with my friends, I think two months away from here will do me some good. It should help me get forget about things I had to worry about during the school year.

While I’m in Bangladesh, I plan on studying, eating, and exercising. Next year, I’ll be taking AP History and AP Biology so I have summer assignments which include reading chapters from textbooks and essays. Every relative I know in Bangladesh will try to make me visit their house and stuff myself with food. I don’t want to gain a lot of weight from all the food so I’ll have to work out. My cousin and her husband are both doctors. My cousin’s husband is gonna be my trainer.
