Since my birthday falls on a Saturday, people at school decided to celebrate it today. I got loads of birthday punches and my arms still hurt. One thing you should know: never wear just a short sleeve tee to school on your birthday, not enough padding.
I didn’t expect so many people to say hi to me. I was actually in a rush sometimes because people were trying to punch me. It was a lot of fun.
The best present, after my Les Paul, was the one from my friends Tanzia and Tasfia. They kept telling me about some present they were gonna give me. When I finally got it, it was a little bundle of something soft wrapped in some desi wrapping paper. When I opened it up, there were three boxers inside and the waists said, “I’m A Big Boy Now.” I knew I couldn’t take them home but they had forgotten, though. We decided that all we could do was play around with the things and throw them out.
I also recieved that piece of a painting I had claimed from Meg Scheminske. I’m happy that it arrived just in time for my birthday.
Speaking of birthdays, why do all those girls who turn 15 on that MTV show seem like way older than me? Staged, I presume?
I seriously didn’t know what to vlog about. I’d play guitar, but I need to fix it up a bit. Maybe next week. (I’m gonna try and make a weekly vlog post from now on.)
My friend, Mario, started a blog a few days ago. Me being the only one who really knows about it, he has no other readers at the moment. I just wanted to tell you guys to visit Coolest Loser. Mario is one really funny guy and I’m pretty sure he’ll start posting more stuff as soon as people encourage him to. (Even though you shouldn’t really give a damn about how big your readership is.)
Us NYC kids had the whole week off. That meant Sudman and Rasidul came over to my place. We had quite a bit of fun. I just wish I had done my homework while they were here.
I am making a promise to myself to never leave any homework for the last minute. I have to stay up late tonight finishing my homework. I also have to pray for a miracle so I can get away with not having finished my (extremely long and tedious) chemistry homework.
Today, a handful of us from school and my guitar teacher went to the NASDAQ Market bulding in Manhattan. Why, you ask? Well, we got to play some flamenco music for a little show that was going on.
I went to school dressed flamenco-style and everyone was like, “Why are you dressed up?” Loads of fun. Especially since we did barely anything in class. It was because of the snow. Some teachers were missing, too.
We left for the show after school. The trip was nice since we went by subway. (Aren’t ya jealous, Sudman?) We got to see the snow on rooftops and there was a place that was just beyond awesome with all this graffiti all over the place.
Before going to the building, we decided to pop into the Hard Rock Cafe shop. We went to the museum thing downstairs and this guy was like, “You guys are so cool. I don’t know what you guys are gonna do, but you guys are just so cool!” We just said, “Thanks,” and went on with our business.
The show was nice and the best part was that there was a lot of food to eat. Everyone came around and kept telling us how great we were. Of course, I messed up a bit and I don’t think anyone noticed it too much. I rushed up a bit sometimes.
This lady was talking to us and she had this really nice quote: “Bravery isn’t not being scared. Bravery is being scared and doing it anyway.” Now that is awesome.
Tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day and I was quite happy till a few minutes ago. However, my plans have gone mushy-bye-bye. Ah well, there’s always birthdays and such.
Today, I went to the Apple Store with Rasidul and Sudman. It was pretty fun. We checked out the new iMacs and took Photo Booth for a test drive. It’s pretty cool. Something that’s good for when you have parties and such. You can just fire up your computer and let people take photos. Sudman and I took a really funny one, but we didn’t remember to post it to Flickr.
Sudman got a bunch of iPod nano Tubes for him and his sister. Sudman also blogged from the store. I wish he kept the browser open to his blog. I remember doing that way-back-when I used the old ‘zikken’ subdomain on Blog*Spot. I don’t think I had any readers back then. I just left one of the Macs subscribed to my feed. I also left a videoblog post on one of the (video) iPods.
Have you ever planned to do something, but then something went wrong and you had too much of your old perfectionist self left in you to try and improvise? How about not doing something you know will bring some happiness to your life? Well, that’s some of the stuff that can happen if you’re in a rush to get to school.
I know that there are many things I could do to get rid of old grudges. Darn me. I need more confidence when it comes to some things.
Today, I got my report card. I’m pretty happy because I improved, even if only by like 2 and a half points. Most of the people I know got good grades. I got a 92.55 and my friend, Ravindra got around a 92.67. Another friend of mine, Nelima got a 92.77 while her friend, Rushni, got like a 93. I’m hoping to get better grades next marking period. Need to boost up that Spanish grade, since the first term grade is the avergae of all three marking period grades.
I’m in a rush to try and ask my dad if I can go to that concert. I need to sweet talk him first. Wish me luck.
