Tanvir

Tanvir

Tanvir’s my 30-year-old nephew. How’s he so much older than me? His dad is 5 years older than my dad and I was born way after all of my cousins. That means I have a bunch of nieces and nephews who are older. Some of my nieces even have kids.

He actually stayed with us from March till June. Many funny things happened. Some I can write about and some I can’t. Why? Because they’re just that crazy!

Various Happenings

Me

So, Ramadan is over and we finally celebrated Eid a week ago. It was a fun day. I spent the day with Sudman and Rasidul. Nazmul also hung out with us for a while. At night, we went to my cousin’s house. Since his house is right next to my friend Einul’s, we hung out there instead. (It’s not fun in my cousin’s house.)

I had gotten a haircut the day before because I was tired of my long hair. As I’d expected, I had angered many of my friends. What I didn’t expect was the amount of comments I got from people who’d never said anything about my hair before. I guess change is good. It’s still hard to decide between keeping it short for a while or growing it out again.

Of course, the photo above is one of the first photos of my new haircut. I got back a roll of photos today and put them up on Flickr for your viewing pleasure. I’m actually surprised at the amount of photos that came out nice this time around. Hopefully, I’ll be getting my LC-A fixed sooner and have more than just indoor shots to show off.

What have I been doing lately? Well, I’ve been caught up in schoolwork. Junior year’s very harsh. Definitely don’t wanna slack off this year. It will hurt you. Of course, I’ve also been playing Phantom Hourglass. Although I really like it, the length of the game is disappointing. It’s way shorter than I expected. I honestly think Nintendo could’ve spent more of their time working on the gameplay than the little enhancements. We barely get to use all the little features they spent so much time on. That’s just what I think.

Also, In Rainbows is just awesome. It’s definitely something to listen to. I’ve had the songs stuck in my head since I got the album. I even went as far as putting the whole thing on my phone.

Finally Got Some Photos Up

Sudman and Myself, originally uploaded by cafenut.

I know I was supposed to put up photos of my new iPod but the only one I’ve been able to take is one with my phone. Of course, I was able to get two rolls of film developed. One of them was shot with my Fisheye soon after I got back from Bangladesh and while in Canada. The other was shot with my newly acquired Minolta X-370. Unfortunately, the only good shots were the few I shot of Sudman.

I still have about four more rolls I need to get developed soon.

Off to Canada!

Well, I’m off to Canada tomorrow for a few days. We’re driving there. I’m hoping that the hotel we’re staying at for 2 nights in Niagara Falls has internet access.

I’m such a photo geek, I’m taking my Brownie Fiesta R4, my Lomo LC-A, and my PowerShot S500. I plan on taking loads of photos with the first two and leaving the third mostly to my dad. Don’t worry, I’ll take photos with the PowerShot and try to upload them to sweet nothings!

What will I be doing now that my headphones are busted? I’m gonna play Animal Crossing on my DS Lite. It’s such an awesome game. If anyone wants to share friend codes with me, send me a message here.

Anyway, I need to get up at like 4 in the morning, so I’d better bounce.

Some Quick Stuff

I haven’t blogged in a while. Why? I’ve been really busy and I’m almost always too tired to write. That’s why I’ve decided to post a list of things I want to say.

  • I got two tickets to the Decemberists’ show in November.
  • Recently, I got a lot of money because of the amount of hours I put into the after school program.
  • The NYC subway system is an amazing thing. You get to see so many different kinds of people everytime you ride a train.
  • It’s been super hot in New York these past few days.
  • I helped design a blog for YoYoNation, where they sell quality yoyos.
  • Jamba Juice is a life saver during the summer time.
  • I just realized that I can look for a photo lab near work and drop my film off during lunch.

That’s it for now.

Photography Log

I recently set up a photoblog called sweet nothings. I’ve worked out a template for it. What’s funny is that I didn’t notice that Lou’s photoblog also runs on Pixelpost. It’s a pretty nice system to use.

There are some things I still need to work out like the commenting system and little details. I also need to pick up some batteries for my Lomo so I can start using that more. Should be interesting.

School’s Almost Out

I can’t wait to get out of school. I have just two more days left. This Wednesday, I am going to take a Regents exam for Chem. Then, I’m going to school for one period the next Wednesday to pick up my report card. I don’t think I mentioned this before, but I’m gonna be working at YoYoNation during the summer. I can’t wait to start. I’ll be getting paid and its my first job so that’ll be fun.

There are a few things I’d like to save up for with the money I’ll be getting. Now, I’m gonna try and hold myself back from splurging with the all money since I know I’ll need it later. Hopefully, I’ll find some way to “grow” my money.

Here’s my summer wishlist (listed in the order I’m most probably getting each):

  1. Brain Age: I really want this game since, as fun as it is, New Super Mario Bros. gets boring when it’s the only game you have.
  2. Canon EOS 350D: Lou and Aaron seem to be happy with it. I’d look at the Nikon D50, but I’m more of a Canon person. I actually wish I had enough money right now since there’s this rebate offer going on.
  3. Banjo: I’d really like to get a banjo sometime in the future. Maybe not now, but someday.

A New Guitar!

My Les Paul!

As I talked about before, I’ve been waiting to get an electric guitar for a while. I finally got the chance to go to Guitar Center. Awesome store, there’s like a huge wall filled with guitars. There are also “shelves” of amps that you can go ahead and test out.

I guess I’m really lucky to have gotten a Les Paul. It’s really great. I love how it sounds. I hope to save up some money and get some more stuff for it. What sucks is that the case is so form-fitting, that the strap has to be taken off one side and packed into a little space to close the case. It’s still a nice case, though.

I took pictures of the guitar, which I have yet to come up with a name for. (Any suggestions? Don’t really like Leslie or Paula.) There are pictures of the whole guitar, the switch, the headstock, and the body.

UPDATE: This guitar is henceforth known as
