This Past Week

Us NYC kids had the whole week off. That meant Sudman and Rasidul came over to my place. We had quite a bit of fun. I just wish I had done my homework while they were here.

I am making a promise to myself to never leave any homework for the last minute. I have to stay up late tonight finishing my homework. I also have to pray for a miracle so I can get away with not having finished my (extremely long and tedious) chemistry homework.

Regents Week

So, ever since I was in seventh grade, I would be tortured with the sight of high schoolers getting a week off two times a year. It is due to a special set of tests given throughout New York State. These Regents, as they’re referred to, aren’t really given to most junior high kids, so they still have to go to school. It wouldn’t be that bad if we didn’t have to see more than half the school gone.

If you’re in high school, you either have one test or you don’t. But either way, you get the week off. I have the Math A Regents on Thursday. I have to take a mock Regents tomorrow, for which I need to stay in school for periods 1 through 3. It’s the same schedule on Wednesday but I’m just getting the mock’s results back and reviewing the answers. The day of the test, I have to go to the school by about noon and they hold you for like 2 hours, even though you get 3 hours to take the test, I think.

I even get Monday off since it’s the last day of the term. Yay! Take this all you kids from other states who get their summer, spring, and winter vacations before us NYC kids!

Musical Happenings

Certain things relating to music have happened recently. First off, I’d like to say that The Strokes’ First Impressions of Earth is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Expect a review soon as I’ve decided to do a review of it for my after school program’s newsletter.

Also, my guitar teacher has invited me and a few other kids to play with him at a show. Not only that, but he *might* have me play at his show at the Knitting Factory. Exciting times lie ahead.

Yo Necesito Ideas

I need ideas for a good place in New York City where I can get an internship. I was thinking about Connected Ventures. Maybe.

You see, I am part of a program at my school and I am going to get an internship/job for summer through it. It’s a really cool program. I hadn’t gotten around to writing about it. I get paid a stipend at the end of the year based on how much I’ve attended my after school program.

NYC Transit Strike

Today, the New York City transit strike went into session. It wasfun going to school like two hours later than normal. I got to see how long things took in the morning if I took my time. I saw that it takes me just 10 minutes to walk to school. Wow. That’s quite amazing, isn’t it? A lot of people seemed to be in a rush to get to school since many had to walk long routes.

We did barely anything in class since each period was shortened to a half-hour. After school, I went to Rite Aid and bought like 16 cards. 4 of them are special ones that I got for four special people from school.
