Procrastination

I’ve been using an application called WriteRoom to write up reports and such lately. WriteRoom lets you block everything out and allows you to work against a black background. It helps me concentrate on only what I’m trying to finish writing. Whenever I try to work on something, I end up spending at least 200% more time than necessary because I let myself get distracted. What I’ll do is surf through sites like Wikipedia or go on Amazon and look up junk.

On another note, classes are cancelled because of the snow. What am I doing? Procrastinating by writing about how I prevent procrastination. I should really be studying for my chemistry exam.

Also, there should be a screenshot here of what WriteRoom looks like.

School’s Almost Out

I can’t wait to get out of school. I have just two more days left. This Wednesday, I am going to take a Regents exam for Chem. Then, I’m going to school for one period the next Wednesday to pick up my report card. I don’t think I mentioned this before, but I’m gonna be working at YoYoNation during the summer. I can’t wait to start. I’ll be getting paid and its my first job so that’ll be fun.

There are a few things I’d like to save up for with the money I’ll be getting. Now, I’m gonna try and hold myself back from splurging with the all money since I know I’ll need it later. Hopefully, I’ll find some way to “grow” my money.

Here’s my summer wishlist (listed in the order I’m most probably getting each):

  1. Brain Age: I really want this game since, as fun as it is, New Super Mario Bros. gets boring when it’s the only game you have.
  2. Canon EOS 350D: Lou and Aaron seem to be happy with it. I’d look at the Nikon D50, but I’m more of a Canon person. I actually wish I had enough money right now since there’s this rebate offer going on.
  3. Banjo: I’d really like to get a banjo sometime in the future. Maybe not now, but someday.

A Review of the Nintendo DS Lite

New Super Mario Bros.

Recently, I had the pleasure of splurging on a Nintendo DS Lite with my birthday money. Let me say, it is one hell of a system. Just like Glen, this is my first system I’ve had in a long time. My last system was the original Game Boy Advance, which is so old now it’s missing its battery cover.

The DS Lite looks very nice. I didn’t like the look of the original DS so I didn’t want to get it last year. I’m into the sleek, minimalistic look, thanks to Apple, and the DS Lite has it going on. I’m not ashamed to carry it around in front of people with PSPs.

I didn’t feel like waiting for the other colors to come in the US, so I went ahead and bought the white one the day it came out. EB Games decided to get only enough DS Lites for people who reserved it. Best Buy was nice and had a lot in stock. All I had to do was go to the cashier and they’d get me one.

Originally, I had planned to get both New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age. When I was at Best Buy, I decided to get just New Super Mario Bros. because my mom would be paying for it seeing as to how I had barely enough money for just the system.

New Super Mario Bros. is a really addictive game. It’s amazing how easy the bosses are yet how hard the levels are. I can’t wait till I meet up with others with DS’s. Pretty sure that’ll be fun.

Jahangir Khalu’s New Camera

Watch the video

My uncle, Jahangir (Khalu is a type of uncle), got a sweet little Canon ZR600 and I was showing him how to use it. It’s really nice and easy to use. I love that it has 16:9 video as the default option. I just wish it were HD, I’d probably get it if it were.

Technology and Families

It’s amazing how technology brings people together. Back when I was a little kid, my parents would call up my relatives in Bangladesha and tell them about me. My cousin just sent me a video of my niece and nephew all the way from Bangladesh. For some reason, I find that really awesome.
