Sometime during the 8th grade, which was around 2005, my blog kept getting hits from people searching for Shahid Kapoor. From what I could tell, there was some cellphone video of the guy kissing Kareena Kapoor. The guy’s really big in the Bollywood movie industry. That was the first time I was confused for Shahid Kapoor.
Over the last couple of years, Twitter’s gotten huge and many celebrities are using it. At some point in time, people started tweeting to @shahid, my username, confusing me for Kapoor. Then, Kapoor joined Twitter (@shahidkapoor) and I’ve been bombarded with even more tweets intended for him. Some people leave a space in his name, typing it as “@shahid kapoor” while others omit his last name entirely.
Of course, my account was private for a long time. I recently made it public for a research paper and to try and communicate with Kapoor. This hasn’t worked yet.
Normally, I would have no problem receiving his tweets. The thing is, these are his fans trying to reach out to him and their messages are coming my way instead. Also, I have to decipher between replies sent to @shahidkapoor and those sent to me, @shahid.
I’m not exactly sure what to do.
